19th century stone sculpture Buddha meditating on lotus flower Rarely available on the European market, an interesting and effective stone ritual sculpture depicting a Buddha meditating on a lotus flower. Made at the latest in the nineteenth century (probably earlier) "climate" sculpture, is covered with a layer of black, then gold-plated lacquer. On the back it has a small, rectangular recess, allowing it to be hung on the wall. Excellent condition.
Visible natural, hair micro cracks in the top layer of the lacquer. By way of explanation and a kind of legal note - the Buddha's chest has a swastika, an ancient religious symbol of happiness (good luck and prosperity), obviously not having any connection with the ideology of Nazism, which after thousands of years of history, adapted this symbol secondary to its needs. A treat for collectors of Far Eastern items and lovers of interiors equipped fully or partially in oriental style.
